Seeing things like this makes me wonder: why have I wasted my life on things that are not beautiful?

Because you need to start somewhere. You don't get to be born at 85 years old.
From the five minutes I knew you, I think you haven't lived a moment (past your 4th birthday or so) without an awareness of the beauty around you. A keen awareness. And I'd guess you know that, too.
